Google's Pixel 3a Review: The Best Experience Between Mobile Intermediaries

Pixel 3a is Google's mobile for the masses and should motivate other companies to offer exclusive premium line experiences on cheaper handsets.

Google's Pixel 3a Review: The Best Experience Between Mobile Intermediaries
Google's Pixel 3a Review: The Best Experience Between Mobile Intermediaries

I've been using Pixel 3a for four weeks, and the experience I've had with this intermediary is still incredible.

The device has an exemplary technical sheet: OLED screen, stereo sound quality, imaging camera that uses Google's exclusive Artificial Intelligence technology, premium series design, and competitive build quality. Attention in this device is the presence of a fingerprint sensor, the maintenance of the P2 input to the headphones to offer more options to the category, a decent battery and customized software, which does not leave anything to be desired about original models of the Pixel 3 line.

On the Pixel 3a, we only have one lens on the front camera.

However, the more accessible models do not offer the two front-facing camera sensors as we have in the Premium variants, and this is correctly perceived in the quality of the images captured with the front camera, especially those using the depth feature. So do not think that having a Pixel 3a you will have the whole experience of having a Pixel 3, that is not the idea behind this line.

What the Pixel 3a also does not have, is the image processing chip unique to Google, called Pixel Visual Core. This means that the processing of the images captured by the camera takes place directly on the Snapdragon 670 chip. As a result, the processing of the images takes a little longer to happen than in Pixel 3.

Now, leaving aside the comparisons with the top-of-the-line variants of the series, what can the Pixel 3a offer?

The back is plastic but does not give the impression of a cheap cell phone.

Review of Google Pixel 3a: build quality and screen

When we take the Pixel 3a in our hands, we know that it is a device that uses plastic in its construction. But this is not a bad thing. The finish of the invention is very well done and uses smooth plastic on the sides and the upper back in the space where the camera is located. Just above the fingerprint sensor, we have frosted vinyl that goes up to the bottom of the end. This makes us have the same look as the Pixel line.

In a time of overtaking the front of the device to the screen, the Pixel 3a leaves much to be desired. The edges of the invention are vast, and this causes a certain awkwardness, but it's not really the end of the world.

The screen of the Pixel 3a is 5.6 inches OLED with FHD + resolution (2,220 x 1,080 pixels), with 441 ppi and 18.5: 9 aspect ratio. The quality of the screen is good, the colors are warmer and pull more red than white. In Android settings, you can change the colors to "natural," "enhanced," and "adaptive," but this reddish tone will remain prominent.

The fact that Google has opted for an OLED screen should be highlighted because not all intermediate devices come to market with this display technology. On the other hand, this is an inevitable option for Big G as the company has put great emphasis on the dark mode of both the system and its applications. This will save energy when the screen is active and, according to the Android engineers themselves, this savings is significant.

Until the launch of Android Q, the Pixel 3a runs with Android 9 Foot.

Still, on the side of the construction of the device, we have stereo speakers, but both are not mounted on the front, only the speaker for connections. The second audio output is next to the USB-C port and has the same microphone design. Because of this, the tray for the SIM card is located on the side of the phone, not the bottom, as in Pixel 3.

The quality of the speakers is excellent, but the fact that one of the audio outputs is at the bottom gets in the way when it comes to media consumption and gaming experience. Anyway, this is a problem we have in all smartphones that do not bring the speakers mounted on the screen.

The second audio output is next to the USB-C port.

Review of Google Pixel 3a: software and performance

Regarding the operating system, the Pixel 3a runs with the Android 9 Pie and will be updated for Android 10 Q. Yes, this is an excellent advantage of the line as well as rely on the custom interface of the Pixel series, with gesture navigation and greater integration with Google services.

The system is very fluid, you can not complain. For an intermediate smartphone, packaged by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 670 processor with 4GB of RAM (LPDDR4X), the performance is satisfactory. Now, of course, mid hardware will offer inferior performance compared to the high-end models we have on the market. Also, there are midrange devices with a higher amount of RAM, which ends up delivering better performance, as is the case of OnePlus, Asus, and Xiaomi smartphones, for example.

In addition to the software, Google Assistant integration into the system allows you to use the device in different ways to make everyday tasks easier, such as sending emails quickly or even filling out forms online with the help of the smart assistant. Also, the Pixel 3a allows you to access Google Assistant soon by pressing the sides of the device, which is very practical when performing searches, confirm the schedule, and send messages without unlocking the device.

The Pixel 3 Premium camera is also available on Pixel 3a.

Last year, in my review of Pixel 3, I said that Google's cell phone was by far the smartest device I've ever used and, given the similarity of the software, the Pixel 3a is by far the smartest intermediary I've ever used.

Another essential feature of the new Pixel is that they will have another layer of data protection and privacy in the Wizard by the end of this year. This is because Google Artificial Intelligence (AI) can already perform actions inside the mobile, which means that the process is local, not leaving the device. This causes us to have almost no experience of latency in the handset, transcriptions that happen in real time and do not require an internet connection to work.

Review of Google Pixel 3a: camera

Google engineers with the Pixel 3a intend to bring the experiences of their cell phones Premium to all, that's the essence of the series. Therefore, bringing the excellent rear camera of the Pixel 3 to the new devices is the great goal of creating this line.

Therefore, the Pixel 3a has the same 12.2 MP rear camera as the original series. And this is where this device has practically no competition in the category.

As with the models announced last year, Pixel 3a lets you take photos using technologies like HDR + and features like the infamous Portrait Mode, Super Zoom, and Night Vision for low-light captures. And yes, comparing the cameras of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a, we have a consistency of colors and lighting in the images.

Camera portrait mode

Regarding camera specifications, the sensor has 1.4 μm pixel size, autofocus with Dual-pixel phase detection, has optical and electronic image stabilization and has f / 1.8 focus aperture. What slightly limits this camera compared to the others found in other Android smartphones is the angle of opening. Image capture occurs at a viewing edge of only 76 °, which leaves a lot of outside. In the time it bothers.

The front camera has 8MP, only one sensor, f / 2.0 aperture, 1.12 μm pixel size, and 84 ° aperture angle. Here we had a cut from Google, of course, but still, using the image processing technology from the search giant, we have good photography experience.

The Pixel 3a has a 3.000mAh battery which, although it does not look like much on paper, delivers a pleasant experience as an average user can spend an entire day with the device without the need for charging. Turning on save mode, which turns off some features and restricts apps, you can increase the usage time of the machine considerably.

Although we do not have the option of wireless charging, this smartphone has the fast charging technology and is shipped with an 18W (USB-C) adapter with USB-PD 2.0. Among the intermediate models of the market, this is a great "plus" of line 3a.

And here, I can not fail to comment that, because we have the maintenance of the 3.5mm audio jack, we can charge the Pixel 3a and, at the same time, listen to music, without the need for adapters or any other accessories. Thank you, Google!

No, the Telegram never said there was no hacker attack on Lava Jet

Publication of the Telegram on social networks was misinterpreted by the press, generating a wave of misinformation about the case.

No, the Telegram never said there was no hacker attack on Lava Jet
No, the Telegram never said there was no hacker attack on Lava Jet.

The Digital Eye published last Monday, 10, a series of techniques hackers that would allow the theft of the messages of the cell phones of operation Lava Jato, that were exposed in a matter of the site The Intercept. This Tuesday, the Telegram expressed to cancel one of the hypotheses: that it was not its infrastructure that was hacked.

However, many read the posting of the platform on Twitter in the wrong way. The Telegram had been questioned by a Brazilian journalist about his service being attacked, which from the outset seemed unlikely. When the company says "in fact, there is no evidence of any hack. It probably must have been malware or someone not using a 2-step verification password, "she is defending herself against some charges that began to pop up that messages could have been stolen directly from the platform cloud.

At no point does the Telegram say that the leaks are not the result of a hacker attack. The messages may have been leaked by hacking the Telegram accounts of Lava Jet members, which is by no means impossible. There are multiple methods for this type of action, with different levels of sophistication, and success can be made more accessible if users do not configure the application's two-step authentication password. Hacking the user does not mean cutting the Telegram; the use is not responsible when the user does not take basic care with their own security.

A basic example: Let's assume someone had access to their personal emails in Gmail. If this access was made through a successful attack on Google's servers, that means the company was hacked. If access came about because someone discovered your password, perhaps by finding the password you wrote down on a post-it, or inferred from information you spotted on your Facebook, it means that you were hacked, not Google.

The fact that non-technology media misinterpret the Telegram publication helps to further confuse this issue. The Twitter publication of UOL News implies that there was no hacking attack in action, which would indicate internal conflict. There were more than 1,700 retweets in the original post, and other big profiles like journalist Monica Bergamo are among the people who went through the information with thousands of more retweets.

The news on the UOL website has been corrected to correctly portray the situation, stating that the Telegram does not say at any point that there has ever been a hacker attack. However, many people even open the news to notice that there have been changes in the text and the original publication on Twitter is still active, allowing it to be freely passed on by other ordinary people and far-reaching influencers.

Faced with the repercussion of the misleading interpretation on its publication, Telegram's own social networks have expressed themselves to try to deny the case. "I did not say that cell phones were not hacked. Someone asked 'The Telegram was hacked?', And I said no, the Telegram was not hacked, "says the official profile of the application on Twitter.

Companies using WhatsApp Business may experience bulk mailing processes

Beginning December 2019, the platform will take legal action against mass or automated messaging on the WhatsApp, Business, and Business API platforms.

Companies using WhatsApp Business may experience bulk mailing processes
Companies using WhatsApp Business may experience bulk mailing processes.

Earlier this week, we had news about bulk or automatic mailings via WhatsApp. Restricted to just five people since January this year, bulk messages are banned on the platform and anyone who breaches these regulations may be sued by WhatsApp as of December 7, 2019. However, the issue is raising many questions regarding the WhatsApp Business and the WhatsApp Business API. But anyway, how are these two platforms?

First of all, WhatsApp Business was never allowed to send spam and bulk messages. This application is aimed at small and medium businesses, is available for Android and iOS and brings various functions like absence messages, labels, and profile to facilitate communication with customers.

However, the service has the "Automatic Messages" tool, which serves to define an absence message when it is not possible to respond to the customer or even create a greeting message to introduce the company to consumers. So, notice that this is not a mass message, because it is not distributed to several contacts at the same time.

That said, there is also the WhatsApp Business API, made for large companies and already being tested by some Brazilian companies such as Banco do Brasil and Ingresso Rápido. This system is still in the testing phase according to the WhatsApp Press Office in Brazil and, when accessing the question and answer section of the platform, in the Facebook Developers website, we have the following information in the category "Sending Messages":

How many messages per second can I send?

The maximum outgoing message rate tested is 20 messages per second.

So, as we can see, it is not possible to send bulk messages to the shared contacts in this category type.

According to the company's Advisor in Brazil, "WhatsApp was made to send private messages, so we act in Brazil to prevent mass messages and reinforce the limits of how WhatsApp can be used.

We have also expanded our ability to identify accounts that misuse WhatsApp, which helps us ban more than 2 million accounts globally per month. "

It is worth remembering that in February, WhatsApp published a White Paper that explains the efforts against bulk and automated messaging.

In this document, how the company acts to prevent malicious use of the platform, from the registration in the messaging application to the use of AI technologies for the recognition of abuse, are explicit.

Although they seem complicated, the tools used by the Facebook control team, which owns WhatsApp, are simple and do not go through users' conversations, as the app uses end-to-end encryption. In this passage from WhatsApp's White Paper, we can understand a bit how the control system works:

For example, it is almost sure that an account registered five minutes ago attempting to send 100 messages in 15 seconds is involved in abuse, as well as a statement that attempts to quickly create dozens of groups or add thousands of users to several existing groups.

We ban these accounts immediately and automatically. In less obvious situations, a new account can send messages to dozens of recipients who do not have the sender's account in their contacts. In such cases, we consider historical information (for example, how suspicious the record was) to separate the user's abnormal but undamaged behavior. In short, our detection systems evaluate hundreds of factors to end abuse.

Finally, although the company has set a date to act judicially in case of violation of the Terms of Use of the Platform, it is worth remembering that the control tools and the detection systems of abuse are already in full operation since - at least - February of this year. Therefore, legal proceedings are not out of the question at this time.

In fact, here in Brazil, WhatsApp has already sent court notices to marketing companies claiming to use the app.

Finally, if your company uses WhatsApp Business or the WhatsApp Business API and respects the platform guidelines, such as sending a maximum of 20 messages per second, you do not have to worry. Our tip is: read the Terms of use of the services carefully and, in case of doubts, contact Facebook support.

New AMD processor impresses with configuration

The Ryzen 9 3950X has 16 cores and an architecture based on 7nm.

New AMD processor impresses with configuration
New AMD processor impresses with configuration.

During AMD's Next Horizon Gaming event, the company introduced its new line of hardware parts that, on paper, appears to be capable of becoming the most robust hardware we have on the market. They announced their third generation Ryzen processors and one of them looks pretty impressive.

The big highlight was for the Ryzen 9 3950X processor, which has 16 cores and costs $ 750 (approximately $ 2893). Besides the generous number of colors, the processor has a clock of 3.5GHz, a cache of 72MB and a TDP (Thermal Power Design) of 105W, considered something unheard of in the market.

The main highlight of this processor is its 7nm-based architecture which features standard size sockets that fit most AM4 motherboards available in the market. According to AMD, those 7nm are not only more economical and efficient but faster on tasks because of their additional cores and are better at playing games.

AMD also said it plans to continue offering video card compatibility by 2020. The company resolves to prevent consumers from buying a new motherboard together with the parts used to upgrade its CPU. "It will take a big turning point in technology to get out of AM4 socket," says AMD's David McAfee, adding that a major change in motherboard architecture is likely to be needed before AMD bothered to upgrade its connection.

One of the focuses of this equipment is aimed at the streamers. The processor allows these content creators to be able to transmit in high quality, without loss of performance or the drop of frames that usually happens during these transmissions.

AMD is quite confident that it will be able to acquire a share of the market that archrival Intel, another processor manufacturer, cannot achieve because they can barely reach 10nm processors. Travis Kirsch of AMD said: "I do not think there is any reason for people to buy Intel processors after we do this." In his speech, he refers to what new processors can offer about their competitor.

Matt Booty, the leader of Xbox Game Studios, said his team plans to launch a new game developed internally for the Xbox consoles every three months.

In an interview with IGN, Booty was asked if there was any goal or rhythm in which Microsoft would like to launch its games developed internally. Booty responded that the Xbox Game Pass is the "primary motivation" for a release schedule as Microsoft wants to ensure a "steady stream of games" available for subscription service for consoles and PCs.

"I think of the time that players spend with a game and that gives an idea of the pace of discovery," Booty explained. "So if you could pitch a new game every three months, considering that each game would take two to four years. I mean, think about recently released titles, things like Red Dead and God of War need five to six years to stay But let's say, for studios like Ninja theory or Double Fine, the pace is two to three years. "

Booty continues: "That is, if you have a new game every quarter and consider two to three development when you do the math, you probably need 10 to 12 studios.

But playing games is still not a perfect science, We've started something, and although the idea is excellent, it just does not kick in. Anyway, we'd love to include a quality game in the Xbox Game Pass every three months. "

Xbox Game Studios currently has 14 studios, including the newly acquired Double Fine Productions and its upcoming Psychonauts 2 game. As for other games that can be part of this quarterly launch strategy, the Xbox conference at E3 2019 brought details of many titles first-party.

343 Industries' Halo Infinite has been confirmed as the launching title for Microsoft's next-generation console, Project Scarlett, which arrives in late 2020.

If they are considering smaller games like Battletoads in this list then fine. If they are talking about AAA games, then this idea is totally surreal. Microsoft is on the right track, but down to earth, please. Let's start with a first-party respect every 6 or 8 months, which is already much more than they could deliver on X1.

I am against the antics that Sony does when it introduces games before the development starts and keeps people rolling for years, but I am also against those clothes saying that a game has to be born in X years. Pressing the studios never works, it almost always sucks.

Clearly, there are deadlines and budgets to be met, but I hope that Microsoft's mentality changes by looking at the freedom and time that competitors give their studios. Better to start a Metroid Prime 4 from scratch than to deliver something with no impact like Crackdown 3.

The PlayStation 4 special edition 'Days of Play', this is its price

The generation of the PlayStation 4 has not been characterized by having many special editions in its console, we know many special packages with games, but in general, the console does not present changes. There are only a few cases, and the majority is accompanied by a vital release.
The PlayStation 4 special edition 'Days of Play', this is its price
The PlayStation 4 special edition 'Days of Play', this is its price

The new special edition is called 'Days of Play,' the name of the campaign in which they offer games at exceptional prices. The console is already available in Mexico, and its recommended amount is 7,999 pesos.

This is the PlayStation 4 in its latest edition with the PlayStation symbols engraved in silver on the front of the console with a Steel Black color and with a 1TB hard drive.

The Dualshock 4 also presents the same colors of the console, and in the case of the buttons we do not notice colors, everything is maintained in an elegant grayscale.

Being a special limited edition, the great attraction is the console, since we will not have any games, probably the only thing that will come is a code with some days of PlayStation Plus. It is essential to clarify that it is not the PS4 Pro, it is the "normal model" that plays all the content in Full HD, with the possibility of offering HDR.

HongMeng OS in tests on one million devices: the new Huawei operating system would be compatible with Android apps.

HongMeng OS already know some details, but if they were not enough, now more information is disclosed. Huawei's operating system, a replacement for Android in upcoming smartphones, would already be in evidence, proving that the Chinese titan takes its current situation against the United States very seriously.

HongMeng OS in tests on one million devices: the new Huawei operating system would be compatible with Android apps.
HongMeng OS in tests on one million devices: the new Huawei operating system would be compatible with Android apps.

Compatibility with Android, the strongest point of HongMeng OS

China Daily reports that Huawei has already tested one million devices with HongMeng OS, according to information from Rosenblatt Securities. What is more striking is that it would confirm a rumor that for some time around everything related to this alternative operating system: its compatibility with Android.

Yes, HongMeng OS would be compatible with all Android applications, plus it would have "improved security measures for personal information protection," according to the company's report. No additional information about this software is provided, but some details are worth noting.

First, there are reports that Huawei has started to invite Android developers to publish their software in AppGallery, their own app store. This reinforces the rumors of the full compatibility of HongMeng OS with Android apps, and how it would be used to "strengthen" the ecosystem of this operating system.

On the other hand, Huawei registered the HongMeng brand before the IMPI in Mexico, and one of the documents states that the operating system could be used in almost all kinds of hardware, from smartphones and laptops to wearables, connected devices, and others. While the record may have been "just in case," it also notes that Huawei would be aiming much further with its new platform, which incidentally would be called Ark OS outside of China.

Regarding the launch issue, Richard Yu, CEO of the mobile division of Huawei, said that HongMeng OS would arrive between autumn this year and the spring of 2020. However, there is no exact date so far, so it will be necessary to follow waiting.

The situation is pressing, but there are possibilities for Huawei. While President Trump affirms that there could be an agreement between the United States and China that benefits Huawei, Google requests the option of continuing to offer official Android support to the company, to "avoid greater risks" to the security of the American nation.

This pair of situations sound good. However, the possibility of a final veto is also considered after a period of leave of up to three years, according to the request of a US government official. Then, it is as usual that Huawei is preparing alternatives to the different scenarios that could arise.

Taxi drivers could have a new enemy: Google Maps wants to alert users when a vehicle changes its route.

The application can now alert users when they deviate along the route in a range of 500 meters, to ensure the safety of users, in addition to preventing a taxi driver from deciding to make the road longer in an area that is not know.

Similar to other private transport applications, we can also share our journey in real time with our friends. In that same section, the possibility of receiving alerts when the vehicle leaves the traditional route will be shown.

In the end, the addition can be used in any journey, it is not necessary to be done as long as you take a taxi, but the purpose is to help people who do not know any particular area. It also clarifies that the routes will continue to be prepared in real time and with the different reports so that it is always the fastest and safest option.

At the moment the option only appeared in India and without any warning, so it must be found in the testing phase, with the possibility of launching it officially if the results are positive.

The 5G smartphones from Samsung, Xiaomi and LG arrive: plans and prices
The 5G smartphones from Samsung, Xiaomi, and LG arrive plans and prices.

Vodafone has detailed on Monday the commercial deployment of its 5G network.

Which will arrive effectively on June 15 to a total of 15 cities in the Peninsula, being the first operator to make effective the entry into force of said connectivity?

Along with it, of course, will also come smartphones that can take advantage of new networks, because only a few devices on the market have in their interior with the modem that makes this possible.

In this case, there will be three models that can be purchased directly through the operator, all of them announced last February in different events of the brands. They will be the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the Mi MIX 3 5G, and the LG V50 ThinQ 5G, all of them with their corresponding tagline that already indicates that they have been created with the specific purpose of enabling their owners to connect to the fastest networks.

Prices and marketing of smartphones

Beyond the options to acquire them free -Xiaomi already sells Mi MIX 3 5G through its official channels-, these can be obtained together with different Vodafone plans, thus facilitating their arrival to the company's customers. The options vary, yes, depending on the model.

In the case of the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, which differs from the rest of the South Korean house range by adding one more lens to its cameras.

By having a larger battery, among other things, it can be purchased with Unlimited Total and One Limited rate Total for a price of 29.99 euros per month (in addition to the cost of the tariff itself).

The LG V50 ThinQ 5G and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G can be obtained along with the same plans with prices of 24.99 and 19.99 euros per month, respectively.

The Pixel 4 could also arrive with this square module and, finally, with multiple cameras

According to OnLeaks, the design of one of the Google Pixel 2019 would be very similar to what is expected of the next iPhone.

The Pixel 4 could also arrive with this square module and, finally, with multiple cameras
The Pixel 4 could also arrive with this square module and, finally, with multiple cameras.

Google recently introduced the Pixel 3a as an economical version that would keep the big sales pitch of its reference phones, the Pixel 3 and its camera. After a generation with a rather moderate jump in terms of hardware dedicated to this, the first assumptions based on "prototyping schemes" are once again here with OnLeaks and its collaboration with Pricebaba.

If this information turns out to be accurate, the next Pixel 4 - which is expected to be presented in October, as every year - would have a square camera module and very similar to the molds of the 2019 iPhone. In the case of the smartphone Apple, these would arrive with a triple camera. For Google, there is not yet a concrete figure, beyond that, it is expected to count, for the first time, with more than one sensor.

The Pixel 4 would debut the multiple cameras in Google.

According to On leaks would be at least two cameras, without ruling out the presence of a third. There are no specific details of the same, and seeing the great bet of Google for the computational photography and the distance that this approach has put about the rest of manufacturers, we can wait for anything. There could well be three cameras that complete the focal range - and therefore the zoom - of the main one, with broader focuses and more increases. But it could also be a second lens that provides more information on which to support processing by deep learning.

In the new images, the reader is lost by fingerprints, which could mean either that the next Pixel 4 would include a fingerprint sensor under the screen, or that they would make use of face-to-face unlocking that is expected to appear official in the next version of Android.

If OnLeaks is right and judging by the position of the superior headset, the screen layout we saw in the 2018 models would be maintained, with the 'notch' at the top but still without any clue about the -sufficiently criticized- size of this. Again, the Pixel 4 could arrive without an option for the headphone jack, allowing as only options Bluetooth playback or through USB C. By the position of the perforations in its base, the new design aims to also avoid the front speakers in stereo.

As for its features, we could expect the typical specifications of a high-end smartphone in 2019. Or what is the same, Snapdragon 855 and 6 GB of RAM in its center?

Although the focus is mostly on their smartphones, this is not the only segment in which Xiaomi generates expectation. The most significant proof of this is the Mi Band 4, a physical monitoring bracelet that, after weeks of speculation, has been officially presented in China.

This new product, which continues the lineage of the previous Mi Band, presents essential novelties. The most remarkable to the naked eye is the integration of a color screen with OLED technology, which can show more information, is larger, and also do it in a richer way. It offers up to 400 bits of brightness and a resolution of 240 x 140 pixels.

The screen grows in size, improves performance, and also has OLED technology.
Inside the My Band 4, an NFC chip is included that will allow, among other things, to make payments incompatible POS terminals. The manufacturer, however, will also distribute a version of this My Band without this connectivity.

The battery has a capacity of 125 mAh in the version with NFC, while the variant without this connectivity raises this figure to 135 mAh. In both cases, yes, Bluetooth 5.0, heart rate sensor and an advanced accelerometer are included.

The Mi Band 4 with NFC also integrates the voice assistant Xiao AI, developed by the manufacturer. At the moment, he is only able to interpret orders in Chinese, so it is unlikely that Xiaomi will integrate this assistant in the versions designed for Europe and Latin America.

The chassis of the Mi Band 4 now supports water dives up to 50 meters deep. On this pillar, the manufacturer has developed specific monitoring systems for aquatic exercises such as surfing or swimming, which add to other activities such as running or cycling. All these systems, of course, rely on the heart rate sensor to offer more accurate and relevant metrics.

And like the previous versions, the My Band 4 is also able to monitor the dream, recording all the data in the application designed for smartphones (Android and iOS).

The basic version of the My Band 4 will be marketed in China for 169 yuan, which is equivalent to 21 euros at the current exchange rate. The version with NFC, on the other hand, will have a price of 229 yuan - almost 30 euros. It is expected that over the next few months, the manufacturer will expand the commercialization of this product to other markets, including Spain.

The CIA says that Huawei has received funding from the Chinese Government

Things are complicated for the Asian company in the international scene.

The CIA says that Huawei has received funding from the Chinese Government.

The cross-accusations between Huawei and the United States continue apace, with the latter redoubling the efforts in recent weeks to discredit Asian technology internationally and prevent the implementation of its 5G network technology in deployments that different countries they are carrying or will perform throughout the year. Now it's the CIA, the American intelligence agency.

The British newspaper The Times published this weekend an article in which it says that there is strong evidence, contributed by this research body, that the Chinese company had received different funding from different agencies related to the Government of the country. According to this, the company "has received funds from branches of the state security apparatus of Beijing ... The American intelligence shown to Britain says that Huawei has received money from the People's Liberation Army, the National Security Commission of China and a third branch of the Chinese state intelligence network. "

The data referred to by the newspaper would not have transpired yet in a public way, although they would be domain today of the five countries that make up the Five Eyes alliance (Five Eyes, in Spanish), adding Australia, New Zealand and Canada to the two mentioned. From the Asian company, this information of "accusations without foundation."

Although several countries have already denied the participation of Huawei in the deployment of their 5G networks, in Europe, still no one has taken the final step that could drag other countries to do the same. The United Kingdom could be the first country to consider this cruelly, given that the latest reports in this regard again put on the line the relationship with the Asian company.

For its part, Huawei has been confident in recent weeks of being able to resist any challenge that may come from the United States or other countries, ensuring that they have sufficient capacity to mitigate the possible effects that may cause an extension of the rejection of its mobile connectivity technology.

The founder and CEO of Huawei are confident, stating that the temporary license that extends until August 19 "is not so significant for the company."

Ren Zhengfei, founder of Huawei: "We are fully prepared."

Ren Zhengfei, founder of Huawei and its current CEO, is not scared after the recent events that have happened in last days. According to the Chinese newspaper Global Times, the executive reacted yesterday at the company headquarters in Shenzen to temporarily lift part of the restrictions imposed by the United States.

Zhengfei says that the 90-day temporary license granted by the United States is not so significant for them, as they are fully prepared and keep their core technologies intact. Despite the embargo, Zhengfei is confident and affirms that the company can continue to provide products and services because the sanctions do not harm its primary business.

The executive also thanks US companies: "They have contributed a lot to Huawei's development and have shown their understanding of the matter [..] As far as I know, American companies have been making efforts to persuade the US government to give them allow to cooperate with Huawei, "he says.

The 90-day license, valid until August 19 and issued by the US Department of Commerce, will allow Huawei to acquire products and services provided by US companies. In this way, you can maintain normality in your operations, as well as offer updates to your smartphones at least until this summer.

As justified yesterday from the Department of Commerce, this license "will allow continuing operating Huawei mobile users and rural broadband networks," some of which have brand equipment.

Again and according to Reuters, Zhengfei claims that Huawei's 5G will not be affected. He also points out that other competitors maybe 2 to 3 years behind technologically and that the US government has underestimated Huawei's capabilities.

After the order issued last Friday by the executive who directs Donald Trump, the events have happened quickly. At the final hour this Sunday it was known that Google applied the veto to the telecommunications giant, to which the most crucial chip manufacturers added themselves hours later to finally extend a temporary license. In any case, the conflict comes from far and is inserted in the development of a commercial war between both powers, with a whole chronology of exchanges in the last year and a half.

The deployment of 5G networks would have an extra cost of 55,000 million

A report prepared by the GSMA - and published by the Reuters news agency - concludes that a veto from Europe to Huawei and ZTE would increase the cost of 5G networks by 55 million euros, in addition to delaying the implementation of the technology in about 18 months.

The 55,000 million euros encompass all the possible costs generated by the prohibition. Half of them, according to the report, would be due to the higher price of the components, caused by a loss of competitiveness in the market. The GSMA also notes that "Additionally, operators would have to replace existing infrastructure before implementing 5G."

Huawei and ZTE have a combined market share of more than 40%. The 18-month delay caused by its exclusion from the European region "would increase the difference in penetration of 5G between the EU and the United States by more than 15 percentage points in 2025," according to the report prepared by the GSMA.

In an interview with Hipertextual, José María Álvarez-Pallete (CEO of Telefónica) warned about the implications of a widespread veto on Huawei, both in terms of the economy and in terms of deployment. "Huawei is between 2 years and 18 months ahead of Ericsson and Nokia in equipment and 5G standards, so if Europe blocks Huawei, it will lose the possibility of accelerating its deployment," the executive said.

To the warnings of the United States about the possible espionage and the insecurity of the network equipment manufactured by the Chinese companies, we must add the veto applied by the US Department of Commerce. To Huawei, which prohibits companies like Google or Qualcomm from doing business with it. This movement, produced during May, weakens various areas of your business and could make you lose competitiveness concerning rival companies such as Samsung or Apple.

Currently, Google provides high-value services in Europe such as Play Store, Gmail or Google Maps, in addition to licensing many systems such as Google Assistant or Google Play Services -which enrich the experience of using Android phones-. On the other hand, companies such as ARM and Intel license and provide certain components to the Chinese manufacturer, which are essential for the manufacture and production of many of their products. The veto of the US Department of Commerce, therefore, entails the cessation of such businesses and could leave the Chinese corporation in a very weak situation.

Meanwhile, the United States and China are engaged in an economic war that could affect the operation of companies around the world. About this battle, Donald Trump, president of the United States, assured that "if we made a deal, I could imagine that Huawei would possibly be included in some way, as part of a commercial agreement."

Google is pushing the Trump government to return its Android to Huawei

Both companies have a lot to lose if finally Huawei, the second phone manufacturer worldwide, loses access to Google's Android.

Google is pushing the Trump government to return its Android to Huawei.

The US blockade of Huawei has severe consequences, and not only for the Chinese telecommunications giant that has even been forced to reduce production after a blow to its sales in different markets, including Spanish. Now, according to the Financial Times, Google is pushing the US administration to allow Huawei to access its mobile operating system.

The first effects of the veto of the government that directs Donald Trump saw the light to the light after being published that Google paralyzed its commercial relations with Huawei. This implies the loss of access to future software updates to which Huawei would have to adapt by implementing its own software.

Now, according to this publication and according to the FT sources, it is Google itself that is arguing that this could have more harm than good for the US national security. He says that if Huawei is forced to launch this "hybrid" operating system, it would be "more at risk of being hacked, especially by China."

And the fact that Huawei devices do not have the Android of Google could hardly improve the national security of the United States, taking into account that these devices are already restricted in that market. If Huawei finally distributes accessories without the services of Google, without Google Play and its Play Protect - which is the de facto antivirus currently on Android - in the rest of the markets, the information that passes through them would be more easily compromised.

Huawei has already claimed that it can implement its own version of the operating system very fast. Most likely, this would be based on the version used in China, and that avoids the services of Google and its Play Store thanks to App Gallery, its own app store.

Of course, and as they also point out in Bloomberg, there is an incentive even more relevant than the supposed national security that argues against the United States government. If the second manufacturer of mobile devices worldwide stops using their services, Google could lose control over their data and the corresponding pinch in advertising revenue.

At the moment, it seems that Huawei is not negotiating "directly with the executive of Trump and is waiting to see how Google talks evolve." He still has about two and a half months left until next August 19 the restrictions with all their consequences become effective.

Huawei's operating system could be much further away from Android than previously thought

According to sources close to the development, consulted by SCMP, Huawei has been developing its own operating system since at least 2012. His bifurcation with Google's Android would be more profound than expected so far, although it would maintain compatibility with current Android applications.

Huawei's operating system could be much further away from Android than previously thought.

The Huawei board expects -according to leaked information- that it will see the light between next autumn and spring at the latest.

The operating system of Huawei, registered in the Chinese market under the brand name "Hongmeng" and internationally as "Ark OS," could have more significant differences with Google's Android than we thought. After the publication of some details by the Chinese newspaper SCMP, the development of this would be inspired at the technical level both in the operation of Android and iOS.

The system, which until now was expected closer to what we see in the version of Android that Huawei uses in China, seems to be based on a more profound implementation of its own, "based on a lightweight microkernel that can react quickly to adjustments and processes, "according to SCMP. Of course, one of the fundamental pillars is to maintain compatibility with Android and its applications.

Ark OS, more independent than the Android that Huawei uses in China

This compatibility with Android applications materializes almost as a requirement after the attempts of other giants to gain a foothold with different operating systems. Among them are both Microsoft with Windows Phone and Samsung with Tizen, and the small ecosystem of applications available in both. Now, Windows Phone is missing from the market, and Tizen takes advantage of less versatile systems such as the televisions and smartwatches of the brand.

This operating system made in Huawei would not have been developed hastily and recently but, according to SCMP, began to be explored no less than seven years ago, and under the fears raised by the heavy dependence on US software. It would not be developed with the view only on the smartphone, but it would also be compatible with computers, tablets, televisions, and even connected cars and smartwatches - Huawei smartwatches have Android Wear - as confirmed by Richard Yu himself - director of Huawei- mobile division recently in a local media cited.

Although it may seem a long time in development, and probably under generous economic and human resources, this Ark OS will hardly be able to compete in capabilities with the current Android or iOS at its launch. Managed behind closed doors and under an environment of secrecy, it probably takes several years of real experience to match the current status of smartphones with EMUI over Android. Recall that Huawei will lose access to Google Play Services for upcoming devices, which support the vast majority of applications currently available, including those of Google.

"Huawei's operating system will hit the market probably as early as this fall, and no later than next spring," Yu says in a conversation on WeChat that has circulated in the Chinese press, not verified by the multinational. In any case, Huawei seems to be confident that local developers and consumers will support their initiative away from Google.

Currently paralyzed, the US veto approaches Huawei. Although its entry into force may be postponed again in some aspects, that of the Department of Commerce - which cuts off access to the products and intellectual property of American companies - continues its course. Scheduled for next August 19, access to future versions of Google software would be lost.
